Warning: SPOILERS for Star Trek: Picard Season 3, Episode 7 - "Dominion"Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 7, "Dominion," opens up new questions and potentially retcons the death of Admiral Jean-Luc Picard's (Patrick Stewart). "Dominion" was an action-packed episode that explored the moral quandaries left behind by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Dominion War, especially in regard to the horrific origin of Captain Vadic (Amanda Plummer) and Picard season 3's Changeling villains. But the Data/Lore (Brent Spiner) hybrid synthetic also dropped a bombshell that could change what we know about Jean-Luc Picard.
Admiral Picard died at the end of Star Trek: Picard season 1. Jean-Luc's death was the result of the brain disease Irumodic Syndrome. Picard's illness was first introduced in the Star Trek: The Next Generation series finale, "All Good Things..." where the elderly Jean-Luc was diagnosed with Irumodic Syndrome in a now-deleted alternate future timeline. However, Star Trek: Picard season 1 made Jean-Luc's Irumodic Syndrome canon, and it was even diagnosed by the USS Stargazer's former Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mortitz Benayoun (David Palmer). Picard succumbed to Irumodic Syndrome on the planet Coppelius, but he was resurrected in a synthetic body called the Golem designed by Dr. Altan Inigo Soong (Brent Spiner). Picard's corpse was then stored in Daystrom Station by Section 31 until it was stolen by Vadic and her Changeling cohorts.
