A Kang Variant Can Explain MCU"s SWORD Origin

Warning: spoilers for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania are ahead!Given recent teases which suggest Kang the Conqueror will soon be influencing several corners of the MCU, it's possible one of his variants could be responsible for SWORD's origins (and perhaps its future). First appearing in Marvel's WandaVision, SWORD was on the front line responding to The Hex which had surrounded the town of Westview thanks to Wanda Maximoff. In the show, SWORD was tasked with studying the supernatural energies of the barrier and its radiation while also forming countermeasures to subdue the Scarlet Witch. However, SWORD is also meant to have an extraterrestrial presence (which is where Kang could come in).
SWORD stands for the Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division, originally founded by Maria Rambeau shortly after the events of Captain Marvel. Originally oriented toward manned extraterrestrial missions, the division's focus was shifted to robotics and artificial intelligence under the command of Tyler Hayward following Rambeau's death. However, Hayward's incarceration after WandaVision could mean that Maria's adult daughter Monica is now in charge. As such, she could very well reorient SWORD's focus back to space, including its impressive orbital station known as the Peak from the original comics. To that end, there has been a version of said station with major ties to Kang the Conqueror.
