After two Phases without Avengers movies, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will soon see the return of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Marvel Studios has delivered four exciting Avengers movies so far, with 2019's Avengers: Endgame marking not only the latest movie in the team-up franchise but also the grand finale of the Infinity Saga, with Spider-Man: Far From Home serving as the saga's epilogue. Of the original six Avengers — Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye — only half are still active in the MCU, making a new version of the team necessary for the next Avengers film.
Despite having an astounding 18 projects over just two years — thanks to the MCU's expansion on Disney+ — Phase 4 came and went without a single Avengers film. That feat will be repeated by the MCU's Phase 5, which will include multiple team-up movies like The Marvels, Deadpool 3, and Thunderbolts, but will not see the release of a new Avengers film. Thankfully, Phase 6 will solve that issue, with two upcoming MCU movies focusing on the Avengers, and the first of them is not that far away.

The Next Avengers Movie Is The Kang Dynasty Close Following Avengers: Endgame, the next film for the MCU's premiere hero team is Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. With many Avengers: The Kang Dynasty details being kept under wraps, Marvel Studios has yet to reveal which heroes will be part of the new version of the Avengers. While Thor, Hulk, and Hawkeye are still active in the MCU, Marvel now has a wide variety of heroes who were introduced during Phase 4 and the projects that have been released in Phase 5 so far to choose from, which could lead to a completely new roster for the next Avengers movie.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty was delayed from its original 2025 release date, with the next Avengers movie now releasing on May 1, 2026.
How The MCU Is Setting Up The Kang Dynasty

Besides all the possible new team members for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty introduced throughout Phase 4 and Phase 5, the MCU is setting the upcoming Avengers film's story in key ways. Loki season 1 saw the debut of Jonathan Majors' He Who Remains, a variant of Kang the Conqueror, who is the Multiverse Saga's main villain. The series saw the variant die and the multiverse be left wide open. Loki season 2 continues to show the ramifications of that, which will lead to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty's many Kang variants, and sets the dread for the Kangs' battle with the Avengers.
The multiversal Council of Kangs, likely behind the meaning of the Avengers: The Kang Dynasty title choice, was introduced in a 2023 MCU movie. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania set up Avengers: The Kang Dynasty's story by seemingly killing Kang the Conqueror — which is unlikely to stick — and that allowing the Council of Kangs to roam free. The third Ant-Man movie's mid-credits scene teased the enormous scope of the Council of Kangs, with thousands of variants ready to fight the Avengers, which should make Avengers: The Kang Dynasty one of the franchise's best entries.
