- The Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes have caused delays in Marvel Studios' production schedule, resulting in a sparse release schedule for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
- Several MCU Phase 5 and Phase 6 projects, including Deadpool 3 and Captain America: Brave New World, have been pushed back to new release dates in 2024 and 2025.
- While having only one MCU film releasing in 2024 may be disappointing, it could work in the studio's favor by giving audiences a chance to reset and allowing more time for production improvements, such as VFX. Sony will dominate the Marvel content in 2024 with three films set for release.
Most MCU Phase 5 and Phase 6 projects have already been the victim of delays announced back in June 2023, but several MCU projects are getting pushed back a bit more. Deadpool 3's new release date of July 26, 2024 means the film is only getting pushed back by a few months. Meanwhile, Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts have gotten pushed into a new year. Finally, the Blade reboot has also been delayed a few months amidst a troubled production.
