Constantine 2 has received a positive update from its director. The DC sequel will not be set in James Gunn's DC Universe. Keanu Reeves has been trying to return for another movie as John Constantine for years — Constantine was released in 2005 — and after much work behind the scenes, the actor is back to lead one of DC's new Elseworlds movies, which are those that exist outside the canon of the new DCU.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Constantine 2 director Francis Lawrence shared some good news about the status of the film. According to Lawrence, they are still at the beginning of work on the film due to the Writers Guild of America strike. However, now that the strike is over, Lawrence says the crew is ready to resume work on Constantine 2's story, saying, "We’re probably going to start getting back together after Thanksgiving, and dig back in to try and crack it.” Check out the full quote below:
